Peles Castle
One of Romania's most beautiful castles, a Neo-Renaissance masterpiece nestled in the mountains of Sinaia. Just 30 minutes away by car or train — a must-see on any visit to the Prahova Valley.
Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)
Located in Transylvania and steeped in myth as the reputed home of Dracula, this 14th-century fortress, with its dramatic towers and ramparts, houses intriguing medieval artifacts and offers a deep dive into Romanian history.
7 Ladders Canyon
An exhilarating climb through dramatic gorges and waterfalls, with metal ladders aiding the ascent. Also home to one of the longest zip-lines in Europe — 3.8 km across 37 segments.
The Sphinx & Babele
A natural rock formation resembling a human face, perched at 2,216 meters in the Bucegi Mountains — a source of mystery and legend. Reachable by cable car from Bușteni or by a medium-difficulty hike. Tip: take the train to Bușteni during peak season.
Ialomita Cave
A 480-meter-long geological marvel in Bucegi National Park. Known for its stalactites and the historical monastery at its entrance, it offers a brief yet captivating 40-minute tour. Allow 1.5–2 hours by car plus a 20-minute walk to the entrance.
Brasov
Founded in 1211 by the Teutonic Knights, Brașov boasts a rich history and stunning natural beauty, surrounded by the Southern Carpathian Mountains. A great option for a day trip. Tip: take the train during peak season — the road can get very busy.
Transport Options
By Car
Well connected to all attractions on the Prahova Valley (via DN1) and Doftana Valley (via DJ101S and DJ102I). Be aware of high traffic during peak season and weekends.
By Train
Comarnic station is right in the town centre, with regular trains to Sinaia, Predeal, and Brașov. A good option for day trips — especially during busy summer weekends.
Biking
If you like to ride uphill, this is the place. Try a day trip to Secăria via Doftana Valley and Câmpina, or a more adventurous ride from Azuga to Secăria on the Baiului Ridge.
